Materials we use

Commercial-grade synthetic turf, compacted aggregate base, weed barrier, seaming tape and infill.

How it works

    Assess the area and confirm layout

    We evaluate drainage, sun exposure and intended use, then confirm turf product and layout with you.

  2. 2

    Excavate and remove existing surface

    Existing grass and soil are removed to make room for the base.

  3. 3

    Install and compact aggregate base

    Aggregate is installed and compacted to create a firm, free-draining foundation.

  4. 4

    Shape drainage and grade

    The base is graded so water moves off the surface rather than pooling under it.

  5. 5

    Install weed barrier

    Barrier fabric prevents growth up through the turf.

  6. 6

    Lay, seam and secure turf

    Turf is rolled out, seamed with the grain running consistently, and secured at the perimeter.

    Apply infill and brush

    Infill is spread and brushed in to support the blades, giving a natural upright look and feel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose sod or artificial turf?
Sod is usually the better choice for large sunny yards and costs far less up front. Turf wins in deep shade where grass will not grow, in dog runs, around pools, and in small yards where the maintenance savings add up quickly. We give an honest recommendation for your specific yard.
Does artificial turf get hot?
Synthetic turf does get warmer than natural grass in direct sun. Shade, lighter infill and rinsing on very hot days all help. In shaded and poolside areas this is rarely an issue.
How do you handle pet waste?
The backing is permeable so liquid drains through the base. Solids are picked up as normal and the surface can be rinsed.
How long does artificial turf last?
Quality turf with a properly compacted base typically lasts 15 or more years in residential use.
