Scalp the yard before installation

Mow the existing lawn as low as possible. This step is handled by the homeowner before we arrive.

Sprinkler check and flagging

We locate and flag every sprinkler head, drain and control box so nothing is damaged during prep.

Whip and remove excess grass

Existing grass is whipped, bagged and hauled off site.

Till the work area and level low spots

Tilling loosens compacted soil and lets us correct low spots that would otherwise pool water.

Add fresh Living Earth topsoil

A layer of nutrient-rich topsoil gives the new sod something to root into immediately.

Install farm-fresh sod

Sod is laid tight with staggered seams, cut cleanly around beds, walks and heads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which grass should I choose for my yard?

It depends on sunlight. Bermuda needs full sun and handles heat and traffic best. St. Augustine tolerates partial shade well. Zoysia sits in between, offering a dense, fine-bladed lawn with good shade tolerance. We walk the property and recommend based on how much direct sun each area actually gets.

How soon can I walk on new sod?

Keep foot traffic to a minimum for the first two weeks while the roots knit into the soil. Light traffic is fine after that, and normal use once the lawn has been mowed two or three times.

How often should I water new sod?

Water heavily right after installation, then keep the soil consistently moist for the first two weeks — typically twice daily in summer. After roots establish, taper to deeper, less frequent watering.

Do I need to remove my old lawn first?

You scalp the existing lawn as low as possible before we arrive. We handle the rest — whipping, bagging, hauling off and tilling.

Do you install sod year-round?

Yes. Warm-season sod establishes fastest from spring through early fall, but it can be installed in cooler months with adjusted watering and slower establishment.
